Ultra Europe is one of the biggest electronic music festivals which Croatia will host this year for the third time, drawing more than 70 performers, mainly top DJs. This year, the event will last seven days, while the first two editions lasted three.
The festival is the biggest multimedia spectacle in Croatia because, apart from live performances, film and video footage as well as photos and other features from the event are featured on social networks, portals, TV stations and other media.
The first Ultra in Croatia brought about 70,000 visitors, the second drew more than 150,000 from nearly 80 countries, while this year there could be more than 200,000. Organisers expect at least 180,000 visitors in Split during festival week alone, after which the event will move to the islands of Hvar, Brac and Vis, one of the coordinators, Dunja Dragojevic, has told Hina.
She said Malta and Barcelona were interested in taking over the festival, offering very concrete terms, but that the licence owner and Adria MM wanted to keep the event in Croatia, "contributing to the overall tourism product in cooperation with domestic companies and partners."
Last year, the people attending the festival spent about HRK 300 million, while organisers invest about HRK 50 million every year. More than 1,000 people worked on last year's event. Half of last year's visitors came through Split Airport.
