Ministry supports all festivals bringing tourists, including INmusic

ZAGREB, April 3 (Hina) - After the organisers of Zagreb's INmusic festival asked Tourism Minister Darko Lorencin to support them, as he did Split's Ultra music festival on Thursday, the ministry said on Friday that they supported all festivals which attracted foreign tourists but that the money for such events was not allocated by the ministry but the National Tourist Board (HTZ) through public tenders.

The ministry said Lorencin would support all festival traditionally taking place in Croatia and bringing foreign tourists, including INmusic, which he said had an important role in promoting Zagreb and continental Croatia.

The HTZ said the organisers of the festival could apply for funding by April 20, recalling that it encouraged and supported the development of tourism products which helped to prolong the tourism season.

The organisers of INmusic said this year the summer event would take place for the tenth year and that it had become one of the most renowned music festivals in Europe, bringing the most important musicians from around the world. Last summer, the festival generated 30,000 bed/nights.
