Compared with January 2014, the average net monthly salary for January 2015 was HRK 103 higher, which was a nominal increase of 1.9%.
"The real net salary in January was about 2.8% higher year on year due to deflationary trends," Zvonimir Savic, an economic analyst at the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, said in a comment on the DZS report. By comparison, the average gross salary was up 0.5%.
Savic said that this could have been expected given changes to income taxation, which were reflected in salaries for December 2014 and January 2015.
