Following a decrease in unemployment during the summer owing to seasonal employment in the tourism industry, unemployment has been rising again since September 2014 and in January this year it again exceeded 20%.
The unemployment rate is expected to continue growing. Data on the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ) web site on Monday shows that there are around 329,890 job-seekers, which is roughly 650 more people than in late January.
The number of job-seekers was down 13% from January 2014 and the unemployment rate of 20.3% was lower than the January 2014 unemployment rate of 22.4%.
