"It was excellent. Her speech had maximum effect. It was patriotic, it called for unity, it was realistic," HDZ leader Tomislav Karamarko told the RTL Television channel after the inauguration ceremony.
"In her speech she showed that she was aware of the difficult situation in which we are. Lack of unity is a luxury which we cannot accept, especially in these difficult moments for the Croatian economy and the Croatian state when a lot of young people are leaving the country. We simply have to put a stop to it," Karamarko said.
When asked if such unity was possible on the political scene and whether there was a topic on which a consensus was possible, Karamarko said that everywhere in the world right-wing and left-wing parties disagreed ideologically, but that a consensus is obligatory when it comes to patriotism and the struggle for a better life.
