National theatre to give Carnival Concert for 1st time

ZAGREB, Feb 8 (Hina) - The Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb (HNK) will hold a Carnival Concert on 16 February, for the first time introducing the marking of a carnival period in this way.

The concert will be conducted by maestro Niksa Bareza and directed and choreographed by Stasa Zurovac.

"How did Antonin Dvorak set life as a carnival to music and how did the conspirators from Verdi's Masked Ball go astray and appear in the dancing Quadrille of Johann Strauss? Can we all dress up into merry Mexicans following the sound of the Huapango or do we prefer to wrap ourselves in the Gershwin blue? Questions, answers and fun with or without masks – this will be the Carnival Concert with the accompaniment of the Orchestra of the CNT Opera, soloists, dancers and actor Livio Badurina in the role of the guide of this game of hide and seek. You can bring a mask or your own face," the HNK said on its web site.

The soloists are Kristina Kolar, Ljubomir Puskaric and Davor Radic, and Dalibor Cikojevic is the pianist. The author of the text is Branimir Pofuk and the producer and set designer is Zorz Drausnik. The dancing couples are Rebecca Smith and Adam Harris, Cristiana Rotolo and Duilio Ingraffia, and Mutsumi Matsuhisa and Hassan Awad.
