Sisak river port master plan completed

ZAGREB, Nov 20 (Hina) - The new river port in Sisak should have an annual capacity of at least 600,000 tonnes of transhipped cargo, it was said in Zagreb on Wednesday on the occasion of the completion of the port's master plan.

The plan envisages the possibility of transhipping one million or even two million tonnes of cargo as well as the construction of a pool for bulk cargo and one for hazardous liquid cargo. By 2020, the port should have two berths for dry cargo, by 2024 four and by 2035 two for liquid cargo as well.

Nominal construction costs by 2035 are estimated at EUR 147 million.

The Sisak port master plan was made as part of the 2007-13 transport programme and is worth HRK 1.5 million (approx. 197,370 euros), of which 85 per cent financed by the European Union.

The aim is to make the port a logistical hub of local and regional industry and trade.

Among those involved in the project were the Transport and Infrastructure Ministry, the Sisak Port Authority, and the Austrian consulting company IC Consulenten.
