Marriage referendum to cost EUR 5.3 mln

ZAGREB, Nov 14 (Hina) - The referendum on the constitutional definition of marriage will cost HRK 40 million, Finance Minister Slavko Linic said after a government session on Thursday, adding that the amount was not envisaged in the 2013 budget revision but would come from budgetary reserves.

The referendum will be held on December 1 and citizens will decide if they want the Constitution to define marriage as a heterosexual union.

The government also approved the purchase of 1,328 vehicles for 18 ministries and seven bureaus for the 2014-18 period costing HRK 167.1 million.

The government adopted a report on the implementation of the national plan for the prevention of human trafficking in 2012.

Deputy Prime Minister Milanka Opacic said that since 2002, when official records were introduced, 116 victims of trafficking had been identified in Croatia, including 11 in 2012, and most of these were women exploited for prostitution.
