The HDZ said Karamarko had received Krichbaum on the occasion of the accession, and that they agreed that the HDZ and its founder and first Croatian President, Franjo Tudjman, had played an important part on Croatia's journey towards the EU.
The two officials underlined the need to strengthen German-Croatian cooperation on the political and economic fronts, and announced deeper relations between the CDU and the HDZ as well as between the Konrad Adenauer and Hrvatski Drzavni Zavjet foundations.
Krichbaum said Croatia should continue to honour the undertaken European obligations.
