Italy and Croatia hit destinations for Austrians this year
ZAGREB, June 9 (Hina) - Italy and Croatia are the hit tourism destinations for Austrians this year and around 15% and 12% plan to travel to Italy and Croatia respectively this year, the results of a survey conducted by the OEAMTC Austrian auto club indicate, as carried by the Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) earlier in the week.The survey was conducted between April 6 to May 2 on a sample of 800 Austrian citizens above 15.
Around 78% of the respondents said they would take between four and fourteen days of annual leave while around 19% said they would take more than a fortnight.
Around 64% of all the respondents said they would spend their vacation somewhere in Europe and around 44% said they would fly to their destinations.
The survey indicates that they plan to spend an average of EUR 947 and would mostly eat out as well as see in local museums, galleries and so on and that they would not spend as much on souvenirs or discos and theatres.
The HTZ recalled that Austrians traditionally make up for the third most numerous tourists to Croatia and that their numbers are on the rise. Last year, Austrian tourists marked a record with over a million arrivals, generating 5.7 million nights, 6% more year on year.
