President calls for improving Croats' socioeconomic status

CAKOVEC, April 30 (Hina) - President Ivo Josipovic said in Cakovec on Tuesday that because of the economic situation the saying "He who dies honestly, lives forever" sounded more like "He who lives honestly, dies forever" and that all political structures must work so that the saying "He who works honestly, lives honestly" could apply.

Josipovic was attending a ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of Medjimurje County and a commemoration of 30 April 1671 and the deaths of Croatian Ban Petar Zrinski and poet and nobleman Fran Krsto Frankopan in Wiener Neustadt on that day.

He said that because of the economic situation, Frankopan's saying "He who dies honestly, lives forever" sounded more like "He who lives honestly, dies forever", and that all political structures, from him, the government and parliament to the winner of the upcoming local elections, must do their utmost to improve the socioeconomic status in Croatia so that the saying "He who works honestly, lives honestly" could apply.
