Speaking to reporters in Opatija, where the HDZ is holding a meeting, he was asked to comment on an interview Kosor gave Novi List daily whose headline said she would like to be on the HDZ's list for the European Parliament.
Karamarko said Kosor, a former prime minister, deserved credit for leading the government that wrapped up Croatia's European Union accession negotiations and that she should be at the party's disposal in what she was best at.
Asked in the interview if her political career would be revitalised, MP Kosor was quoted as saying that some of her "colleagues in the EU have indicated to me that it would be interesting to see in the European Parliament the former prime minister who wrapped up the accession negotiations and signed the (accession) treaty."
Asked if there were indications that Karamarko was willing to nominate her for the European Parliament, she was quoted as saying, "Of course not."
Speaking to the press in Opatija, Kosor said she never said she wanted to become a member of the European Parliament but someone did not let her, adding that her ambition was to complete her term in the Croatian parliament.
"As for other political plans, we will see," she said.
Asked if she would discuss the matter with Karamarko or propose her candidacy, Kosor said she would not, adding that this was not her ambition and that it remained to be seen.
She said her statements in Novi List were being reinterpreted and that she only said that some of her "colleagues and friends from the EU have pointed out in some talks that it would be interesting to see the former prime minister, the person who negotiated, completed the negotiations and signed the accession treaty, in the European Parliament."
