Opposition leader says health education should be optional subject

ZAGREB, Dec 27 (Hina) - The president of the strongest opposition party, the HDZ, said on Thursday health education should be an optional subject in schools, like catechism.

Speaking at a ceremony marking the 23rd anniversary of the HDZ's Zagreb branch, Tomislav Karamarko reproached President Ivo Josipovic and Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic for ignoring the death anniversary of the first Croatian President, Franjo Tudjman.

"They didn't feel like pretending, because they never either wanted or loved Croatia, yet today they wish to create Croatia," he said, adding that hundreds of streets and squares in Croatia "carry the name of the criminal Tito."

Karamarko called on the HDZ's Zagreb branch to mobilise all forces for next year's local elections, saying it was disgraceful that the party won such a small percentage of the vote in the Croatian capital.
