However, most buyers on the European market kept to the sidelines. "Buyers said earlier they were waiting for Chicago, but they still did nothing when it opened lower," said a trader. Traders do not expect Monday losses to be the final fling of the weather market but said that Chicago would remain volatile right up to the harvest. Palm oil prices were barely changed in early trading despite lower prices in the Far East and a feeling that the market was over brought during last week. "Palm oil prices have got room to come down, but everything is hanging on Chicago at the moment," said a trader. At the close crude palm oil (CPO) sellers were around $2.50 down while products were $5 to $7.50 lower. Sep CPO traded at $510 tonne cif Europe but no further business was reported for products. Coconut oil finished $10 to $15 lower after Afloat material on a vessel due end-Aug fetched $920. Aug/Sep traded at $760 and $750 and Sep/Oct at $730 a tonne cif. Palmkernel oil finished $5 down to unchanged. Among soft oils soy oil closed two to 0.50 guilders down after Nov/Jan traded at 96 guilders and rape oil finished two to one guilder lower after Nov/Jan fetched 95.50 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill.
