However, the volume of business eventually concluded may have been limted, as the generally bearish mood of the market provides no incentive to cover more than the most pressing requirements - unless particularly attractive discounts are offered by the seller. Traders said some modest sales of West African have been mentioned, and Greek is increasingly attracting enquiry, as the harvest gets under way. On the other hand, despite a favourable production outlook in the main cotton-producing republics, the usually popular Central Asian styles have not yet been offered at levels that would encourage spinners to buy in volume. 061107 MET oct 97
