Bosnia's Federation wants Croatian verdict on tanks sold to Kuwait revised

SARAJEVO, Oct 2 (Hina) - The authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Federation entity have filed a request with the Croatian Supreme Court to revise a Zagreb High Commercial Court decision which dismissed a suit by the Federation and the Bosnian company BNT against the Croatian company Djuro Djakovic for the sale of 13 tanks to Kuwait, Federation Privatisation Agency assistant director Senad Rahimic said on Tuesday.

He told Sarajevo's Dnevni Avaz daily the Bosnian lawsuit should not have been dismissed because it was based on strong arguments, which was why a revision of the decision was requested.

The Federation and BNT sued Djuro Djakovic in 2007, asking that BNT be paid a little over US$ 3 million in damages for parts put into tanks sold to Kuwait in 1991.

The tanks were made by BNT and two other Bosnian companies, Trak and Famos. The three companies claim a little under $13 million in total damages.

The T-84 tanks commissioned by Kuwait were the joint product of some 200 companies in former Yugoslavia's military industry.

Djuro Djakovic was in charge of finalising the manufacture, while the Bosnian companies made the machinery, optics, cannons and ammunition.

According to available data, the former Yugoslavia sold about 150 such tanks to Kuwait.
