Abuse suspected among Bosnian voters who live in Croatia

MOSTAR, Sept 19 (Hina) - The president of Bosnia and Herzegovina's State Election Commission, Branko Petric, informed Croatian Ambassador Tonci Stanisic on Wednesday that many voters who live in Croatia will not be able to vote by post in Bosnia's upcoming local elections because of suspected abuse.

According to a statement from the Commission, Petric said that in deciding to turn down applications to vote he had found that a number of persons had submitted their application from a shared address abroad.

A number of Bosnian Croat associations have organised the collection of data and registration of voters, mainly displaced Bosnian Croats now living in Croatia, so that they could vote in next month's municipal elections.

In the past, more than 5,000 voters from Croatia applied to vote in Bosnian elections.
