All fears of EU accession should be eliminated and national minorities should realise that they must deal with their issues by themselves, their representatives said, adding that education for preparing those programmes must begin immediately.
The president of the National Minorities Council, Aleksandar Tolnauer, said that on the legislative level, minorities' rights were excellent but that in practice, notably on the local level, the remained undesirable manifestations.
"But national minorities in Croatia are now part of the political and public life, which is a big deal," he said, adding that the Council had a HRK 40 million budget this year.
