The two officials discussed Afghanistan and Croatia's contribution to its stabilisation, the smart defence concept which will make sure that NATO remains capable of effectively responding to new challenges, and the strengthening of the partnership.
Rasmussen commended Croatia's participation in the ISAF mission to Afghanistan and thanked Croatia for its willingness to remain in Afghanistan after 2014 to train the Afghan security forces.
Josipovic said Croatia strongly advocated the open door policy and that it was willing to help the countries in its region draw closer to NATO membership.
Rasmussen is in Croatia to attend the seventh Croatia Summit meeting of prime ministers, foreign ministers and other representatives of states and organisations from Europe, North America, and the southern Mediterranean taking place in Dubrovnik on Friday and Saturday.
