The conference continues the work on an institutional framework for sustainable development aimed at adopting "The Future We Want", a document that will renew the international community's commitment to sustainable development and create the basis for a global green economy, the ministry said.
Croatia believes that a green economy is imperative for the effective use of resources, sustainable production and consumption, equitable growth, and jobs that respect man's health, the ministry said.
Croatia wants the final document of the conference to contain concrete goals and measures that comprise all three pillars of sustainable development, so that the environment and resources are protected and the social status of people is improved.
Croatia also supports the idea to transform the UN Environment Programme into a specialised agency to strengthen the environmental pillar of sustainable development.
