Bosnian Federation President won't sign for replacement of ministers

MOSTAR, June 18 (Hina) - The President of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Federation entity, Zivko Budimir, will not approve a request for the replacement of entity government ministers from the ranks of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) and the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP), which will complicate the government reshuffle announced by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ BiH), the speaker of the Federation lower house, Denis Zvizdic, said on Monday.

Speaking to the press after meeting with the President, he said Budimir would not sign for the replacement "because of how it is being asked of him."

Zvizdic said the requests of 43 MPs from the ranks of the SDP and the HDZ BiH for an extraordinary lower house session had been submitted.

Those two parties have said they want the replacement of the leadership of both houses of the Croat-Bosniak Federation parliament and that they will initiate the replacement of Budimir.

SDP president Zlatko Lagumdzija and HDZ BiH president Dragan Covic on Sunday signed an agreement on the formation of a new Federation government that would exclude the SDA and the HSP, whose officials object to the reshuffle.

In order for the reshuffle to be carried out, the SDP, the HDZ BiH, the HDZ 1990 and the Alliance for a Better Future need 66 votes in the 98-seat lower house to replace Budimir who, under procedure, approves the replacement of ministers and appointment of a new government.

Those four parties have the support of 56 MPs. The media have announced that smaller parties will support them in the government reshuffle.
