The summit will take place during Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao's visit to Poland. In addition to the prime ministers of China and Poland, the meeting is expected to be attended by the prime ministers or deputy prime ministers of 15 Central and Eastern European countries.
The main goal of the summit is to strengthen the cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European countries, with special emphasis on closer economic ties and an exchange of experience in the areas of science, culture and young people.
On the margins of the summit, Prime Minister Milanovic is due to meet with his Chinese counterpart Wen to discuss ways of promoting bilateral relations, especially in the light of Croatia's forthcoming accession to the European Union. The focus will be on potential areas of cooperation such as energy, transport and infrastructure. Milanovic will present projects of special interest to Croatia for possible Chinese investment, including the northern Adriatic port of Rijeka, the Rijeka-Zagreb-Botovo railway line and energy projects.
Milanovic is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with the prime ministers of Slovenia and Montenegro.
