The construction of the bridge will be financed with $525,000 to be provided by the United States European Command through the Defence Cooperation Office of the US Embassy in Zagreb, Foley said, adding that the US Army had so far invested about $6 million in similar projects in Croatia.
Foley said that the construction of the bridge was a mark of the gratitude of the United States for its alliance with Croatia within NATO and its contribution to the post-war reconstruction of Vukovar.
While in Vukovar, Foley visited the Municipal Library and the Homeland War Memorial Centre at Ovcara where he laid a wreath and lit a candle on the site of a mass grave from the 1991-1995 war.
