Ex-Bosnian Croat soldier gets two years for war crimes in Stolac

MOSTAR, March 26 (Hina) - The cantonal court in Mostar on Monday found former Bosnian Croat soldier Miroslav Raguz guilty of war crimes against Bosnian Muslims in the southern town of Stolac during the 1992-1995 war and sentenced him to two years in prison.

Presiding judge Hamo Kebo said that it had been established that Raguz, a former Bosnian Croat Defence (HVO) security officer, failed to prevent the physical torture of captured Bosniak soldiers and civilians during their interrogation but that he had not been personally involved in the crime. At the time relevant to the indictment he was assistant commander of the intelligence agency SIS.

The defence announced an appeal against the ruling.
