Fischer expressed support for the integration of Serbia into the European Union, voicing hope that Belgrade would get a date for the start of accession talks as soon as possible.
Austria will certainly make its contribution and help promote the process and overcome certain obstacles. We want to cooperate in the implementation of that task, but it would be unwise to give a date that might not be honoured for some reason, Fischer told a joint press conference after the meeting.
Fischer said his country supported dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo and advocated compliance with the agreements reached as part of the dialogue.
Tadic said he believed it was possible for Serbia to get a date for the start of EU accession negotiations by the end of the year, adding that it depended on Serbia's ability to make further progress in dialogue with Pristina.
I believe that new possibilities for a comprehensive dialogue on how to deal with problems in Kosovo will be opened after the elections, Tadic said.
