Pusic: Rehabilitation of Draza Mihailovic would harm Serbia the most

BRUSSELS, March 23 (Hina) - The possible rehabilitation of World War II Chetnik leader Draza Mihailovic by Serbia will harm Serbia the most, Croatian foreign minister Vesna Pusic said in Brussels on Friday.

"As for the possible rehabilitation of Chetnik leader Draza Mihailovic, if this topic occupies the attention of the Serbian public in this pre-election time, Serbia will suffer the most from it. (...) It is an attempt (by Serbia) to redefine its own identity. None of the peoples in the region were immune to that, but whoever tried it suffered the most from it. I wish Serbia would avoid that problem," Pusic said when asked to comment on how the possible rehabilitation could affect relations between Croatia and Serbia.

Pusic was in Brussels on Friday to attend a meeting of EU foreign ministers.

Earlier in the day, Serbian foreign minister Vuk Jeremic declined to comment on the rehabilitation process, saying it was Serbia's internal affair.
