ZAGREB, Dec 21 (Hina) - The Red Cross of Croatia on Tuesday
forwarded an appeal to the International Committee of the Red
Cross, the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red
Crescent in Geneva, and to all Red Cross organizations round the
world, seeking support for its request to Bosnia-Herzegovina's
Government and Embassy in Zagreb to secure free passage of a convoy
coordinated by Dr Slobodan Lang."
The appeal recalled that the 87-truck convoy bound for Nova Bila
had brought humanitarian aid to 70,000 people trapped in central
Bosnia. It said that the convoy personnel were facing great danger,
and the prospect of their safe returning was threatened. According
to Dr Lang, Bosnian government forces had dispossessed the convoy
personnel of their documents, giving the humanitarians an ultimatum
to leave the area at short notice without assurances of safe
passage.
The appeal was also sent to Mrs Bisera Turkovic, Bosnian
Ambassador to Zagreb.
