FAMINE AND COLD IN LASVA VALLEY, CENTRAL BOSNIA

TRAVNIK, Dec 4 (Hina) - Famine and cold have set in the Lasva valley, bringing equal difficulties as the eleven-month blockade. All relief convoys passing through the region go to the central warehouse in Zenica from where little returns to Croats in the Lasva valley, said local authorities on Saturday. The situation in the Franciscan hospital at Nova Bila is still very difficult. A large number of the seriously wounded, some of whom in a coma, are waiting to be evacuated to hospitals in Croatia. Red Cross and Civil Defence officials in Nova Bila have said that food supplies are low, and that the major problem is how to feed about 2 thousand children, of whom 300 newborns. 042114 MET dec 93
