DRAMATIC APPEAL TO UNPROFOR TO PROTECT SARAJEVO CROATS

MOSTAR, Nov 7 (HABENA/Hina) - Foreign Affairs Advisor to the President of the Croatian Republic Herzeg-Bosnia, Vladislav Pogarcic, forwarded today a dramatic appeal to the UNPROFOR Commander for B-H Gen. Briquemont, in which he demanded the protection of the Sarajevo Croats against whom the Muslims started exerting immense pressure. The letter is fully quoted: "Dear General, We are deeply disturbed by the recent demands made by the Muslim army in which they request that the HVO Brigade 'Kralj Tvrtko' from Sarajevo to be place under their control. As was the case concerning previous Muslim demands, I urgently request UNPROFOR to immediately deploy its forces in Sarajevo to protect the Croatian people and act as a buffer between the HVO and Muslim forces. Furthermore, UNPROFOR forces should be used to protect the HVO Command centre and Commander of the brigade, Slavko Zelic, as his life has been threatened by the Muslim authorities. As we have momentarily lost contact with our Brigade in Sarajevo, I kindly request that UNPROFOR provide our office with information of events as they unfold.
