SARAJEVO, Dec 16 (Hina) - UN Protection Force Headquarters in
Sarajevo officials today said a UN helicopter that had been shot at
yesterday near Sarajevo, had been flying over an area under the
Bosnian Army control when the incident happened.
UN military spokesman Merveldt said the helicopter had been
hit by 12 bullets from a machine-gun while flying over Malo Polje
on Mount Igman, south of Sarajevo. Only Bosnian Army soldiers were
situated in that area, Merveldt said adding that the UNPROFOR
believe that the Bosnian side is responsible for this incident.
The helicopter, which should have transported UN commander in
Bosnia Lt. Gen. Michael Rose to Italy, was fired at while flying to
Sarajevo.
Serbs killed three Sarajevans by fire from small arms in the
last 24 hours, UN military observers said.
One citizen was killed in the Sarajevo section of Butmir, and
the other civilian and one Bosnian soldier were killed in the
suburb of Nedzarici.
