BUDAPEST, Dec 6, (Hina) - Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic said
yesterday he had received moral and political support from the CSCE
summit in Budapest and that despite the CSCE not being able to do
anything to resolve the Bosnian conflict, he was not disappointed.
"We've accepted the peace plan, but Serbs have again rejected
it," Izetbegovic said at a Budapest press conference.
"The arms embargo will be lifted very soon if the problem is
not solved through a political path."
He said that in Bosnia there were conflicts between legal and
illegal authorities, that is democratic authorities versus racism,
from which Bosnia tried hard to be saved from.
Commenting on the Russian veto of a Security Council
resolution banning fuel supplies to Bosnian Serbs, Izetbegovic
said: "By this act Russia has once again shown that is clearly
standing by the Serbs' side."
Responding to questions on whether Croatia was asked to
intervene militarily, Izetbegovic said: "No one asked for
intervention because no one believed that there'd be a positive
response."
He added that 'Croatia had stated earlier that it could not
involve itself in the conflict because of international
obligations'.
