US AMBASSADOR REDMAN DELIVERS CLINTON'S LETTER FOR IZETBEGOVIC

SARAJEVO, Dec 4 (Hina) - US Ambassador Charles Redman today delivered US President Bill Clinton's letter for Bosnia- Herzegovina's President Alija Izetbegovic in Sarajevo. Ambassador Redman lodged the letter with Bosnian Prime Minister Haris Silajdzic, who said USA were resolute in preserving Bosnia-Herzegovina as one State within the internationally recognized borders. I believe we have resolved some doubts that have occurred in connection with information on the latest diplomatic initiatives as regards the war in Bosnia, Prime Minister Silajdzic said after the one-hour talks with Redman. He added that their talks had also focused on the control of the border between Bosnia and Serbia, and announced that the Bosnian Government would insist on maintaining the sanctions against the unrecognized Yugoslavia (Serbia/Montenegro) until Belgrade paid the war damage to Bosnia. Charles Redman, US Ambassador to Germany, said during his four-day visit to Sarajevo and Pale he held talks in a capacity of a special envoy of the US State Secretary Warren Christopher. The aim of his mission to Bosnia was to gain an insight into the current situation, Redman said. He announced that he would depart from Sarajevo for Budapest to meet Christopher and inform him of his mission's results. He declined to comment on next steps to be undertaken by US diplomacy in respect to a solution to the Bosnian crisis. We were considering many steps which might contribute to peace, Redman said.
