BUENOS AIRES, Dec 2 (Hina) - The Croatian delegation regarded its
visit to Argentina as most successful, President Tudjman this
evening told a Buenos Aires press conference.
He praised the "cordial hospitality of Argentinian official
circles, the general public and the Croatian community."
"Talks with President Menem and other Argentinian officials,
and the agreements we are going to sign today, have laid a sound
foundation for fruitful cooperation between the two countries," he
said.
Tudjman praised Argentina for receiving Croatian political
immigrants after World War II, when no other country would have
nothing to do with them.
He said many of them had been unjustly branded as Ustashas by
the Belgrade regime.
"A sovereign Croatia could be created only through unity and
reconciliation of of all Croats, no matter what side they had
fought on in World War II," he said.
"I trust my visit to Argentina will confirm what we have
achieved the unity of the Croatian people in creating and defending
their independent state," President Tudjman said.
After a working meeting this evening, Presidents Tudjman and
Menem will sign four bilateral agreements - on economic
cooperation, investment protection, scientific exchanges and
annulment of visa requirements.
