ZAGREB, Nov 3, (Hina) - UN secretary-general special envoy, Yasushi
Akashi, understood the deep disappointment felt by the head of the
Croatian President's Office, Hrvoje Sarinic and the Croatian
people, that a greater number of cemeteries in UNPA areas could not
be visited on All Saints' Day, UNPROFOR spokesman Paul Risley said
today in Zagreb.
In response to an open letter from Sarinic, Risley said that a
number of visits were declined because of 'lack of cooperation with
Knin authorities, despite their earlier promises'.
However, Risley, added, it was significant that visits to the
separation zone in Sector South were allowed for the first time in
two years.
"Four cemeteries in the Maljkovo, Skabrnja, Dabar and Zemunik
Donji villages were visited by a some 644 people," Risley said
adding that it was possible because of great efforts by UNPROFOR.
