SARAJEVO, Nov 16 (Hina) - Severe clashes were continuing between
the Bosnian Army and the Serb forces in western Bosnia, the UN
Protection Force (UNPROFOR) headquarters in Sarajevo said today.
UNPROFOR spokesman Herve Gourmelon told Hina correspondent
that fierce artillery clashes had been reported from the
surroundings of Velika Kladusa. UN military observers also
registered the small arms fire exchange on the front.
No information on fighting in the very town was available to
UNPROFOR sources. They believed that some followers of Fikret Abdic
(a Moslem separatist leader) this morning had passed the Croatian-
Bosnian border to start an attack on Velika Kladusa.
Spokesman Gourmelon described as the most grievous accident
today the repeated launching of rockets at western Bosnia.
Serbs launched two SA-2 rockets at Coralic at about 11:20 a.m.
and two 105-mm cannon missiles fell near the Bangladeshi UN peace
keepers' base.
A severe protest was sent to the Serbs due to the attacks, and
NATO aircraft were asked to approach the crisis area. The NATO
planes flew over the area by 13:00 p.m., but they undertook no
action, the UNPROFOR spokesman said.
Strong artillery attacks were also reported today on the areas
of Bosanska Krupa, Miostrah and Izacic.
UNPROFOR sources could not confirm that the Serbs had carried
out a helicopter-borne infantry attack west of Bihac today.
