ZAGREB, Nov 15 (Hina) - President Tudjman today told a session of
the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) central committee that Croatia
had set November 21 as a firm deadline for rebel Serbs to accept an
agreement on reintegration of the occupied territories.
"If this is not implemented, we will say no to the extension
of the UNPROFOR mandate in January," Tudjman said.
"But it does not depend only on us, on our judgment, strength
and choices," he warned.
The meeting, held at the Zagreb Fair compound, is expected to
adopt a Statement on a Government report on ownership
transformation and privatisation.
"We shall not tolerate procrastination of the reintegration of
Croatian territories and neither shall we accept any imposed
solutions. For example, there was a proposal to admit not only
Moslems, but also Serbs into a Bosnian-Croatian confederation - or
that Bosnia-Herzegovina, if it survives, should be linked in a
confederation with both Croatia and Yugoslavia," Tudjman said.
"This would land us back into the Balkan pot," he stressed.
"The policy we are pursuing is independent enough and we will
maintain this course, but we will also take into account the
overall situation so as not to endanger Croatia's position by some
unjudicious steps," Tudjman said.
"We must be aware that the problem of liberating our occupied
areas and the final resolution of the crisis in Bosnia-Herzegovina
is not only our problem, but a problem of the world community, a
question of civilisation," Tudjman said.
