ZAGREB, Nov 2 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman today
received Saudi Arabia's Minister of Islamic Issues, Abdullah bin
Abdelmoshin Al-Turki and his assistants.
Minister Al-Turki conveyed to President Tudjman King Fahd's
good wishes for the prosperity of the Croatian people, the
Government and President personally, the President's office said.
"There is no doubt that Croatia plays a prominent role in the
establishment of peace and stability in the region," Minister Al-
Turki said, stressing the leading role of the Croatian President in
this process.
Minister Al-Turki said Saudi Arabia was very interested in the
settlement of the crisis in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. He
expressed the hope that Croatia and Saudi Arabia would develop even
more intensive and friendly relations in the future.
Also discussed were the possibility of establishing diplomatic
relations in the near future.
Particular emphasis was laid on possibilities for economic
cooperation.
President Tudjman asked for Saudi and general Arab and Islamic
support in the resolution of the crisis in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
President Tudjman dwelt on Croatia's stable democracy,
economic achievements and the stability of the kuna.
Minister Al-Truki promised to convey President Tudjman's
greetings to King Fahd, the "guardian of two sacred places," and to
the friendly people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Minister for Islamic Issues today also met with
Croatian Minister of Transport, Ivica Mudrinic.
