A BRIEF LOOK AT CROATIAN PRESS ON MONDAY

ZAGREB, Oct 3 (Hina) - Today's VJESNIK carries an article by Klaus Kinkel, the German Foreign Minister. He writes that Croatia can always rely on Germany as its partner. "Annual frame for Croatia - $150 million," says the headline of a report from the session of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. The article says: "Preparations for loans agreed in principle should be completed by the end of this year. The World Bank should offer a strategy of its cooperation with Croatia starting from next year. The paper brings a report from the Karlovac suburb of Turanj where almost 2,000 refugees wanted to square accounts on Saturday with two UNHCR members who were handing out leaflets to refugees in order to inform them about the security situation in Velika Kladusa. Today's VECERNJI LIST carries a commentary by Dunja Ujevic headlined "Success on the East River". Ujevic writes about Croatia's diplomatic struggle during the adoption of the resolution on UNPROFOR's mandate. "At this moment, Croatia is not permitted to wage war but on the other hand it is not forbidden to form a relavant military force that would maintain the balance of powers. The Serb issue will be solved within the Croatian state borders." "Better to stay with Valentic than go back to square one," is the headline of an article on the government economic stabilization scheme. "If everything is all right, the first anniversary of the stabilization programme will be marked by concluding a stand-by arrangement with the IMF. The second stage, the so-called economic restructuring, is to be completed by the second anniversary." (hina) mm ks vm 031159 MET oct 94
