SARAJEVO, Sept 14 (Hina) - The Bosnian army 5th Corps yesterday
launched a fierce counter-offensive on the strategic Mount Radac in
western Bosnia, a news conference at UNPROFOR headquarters in
Sarajevo was told today.
The Bosnian army reconquered the northern border between
Bosnia and Croatia in western Bosnia, he said.
According to UN military observers, the Bosnian army also
managed to seize a considerable amount of weapons, including a T-55
tank, several 12-mm mortars and anti-aircraft guns.
The news conference was told that Serb forces yesterday, again
shelled Konjic, 50 km S. of Sarajevo.
According to UN military spokesman, Major Eric Chaperon, the
shelling was probably a retaliatory attack for the successful
actions of the Bosnian infantry S.W. of Konjic - the latter aimed
at seizing Kalinovik, a strategic town on the intersection of roads
linking Sarajevo with Gorazde and eastern Herzegovina.
UN military observers yesterday observed renewed fighting in
northern Bosnia.
Although the situation in Gorazde had been calm for weeks, at
least five civilians were wounded yesterday in the eastern-Bosnian
town. Two of the civilians were wounded in the 3-km exclusion zone.
UNPROFOR said today that the Serbs fired 120-mm shells at
Bosnian army positions in the "safe zone" on Monday night. The
shells were also fired from the safe zone.
