MYSTERY BARBED WIRE FENCE PROMPTS COUNCIL PROTEST

SPLIT, Sep 8, (Hina)- Members of UNPROFOR's Malaysian battalion, who are renting premises at Kastel Sucurac near Split, yesterday began erecting a barbed-wire fence around their court yard. The construction of the fence has stunned locals and has prompted the local Counicl to send a protest letter to the Croatian Government's office handling UNPROFOR relations. The letter demands to know why the fence is being built. It also includes a sarcastic line, that perhaps the fence was for protection against children who are to return to schools and kindergartens tomorrow.
