MOSTAR, Sep 5 (Hina/Habena) - Mayor of the western part of Mostar,
Mijo Brajkovic, sent today a protest letter to EU Administrator of
Mostar Hans Koschnik, regarding last night's removing of barricades
in front of the Ero Hotel.
The barricades were on the first line of disengagement during
the conflict between the Bosnian army and the Croatian Defence
Council (HVO) in Mostar.
Brajkovic said in the letter that "fundamental principles of
our joint work in Mostar were ruined by last night's unilateral
act."
He went on to say in the letter that Croat representatives
also supported removing the barricades, stopping the war and
reconstructing the town, but Administrator Koschnik should consult
with the Croat authorities in Mostar on acts like the one of last
night, but he had failed to do it in that case.
On behalf of the municipal council of Mostar, Brajkovic warned
Koschnik that if the council is not consulted on adopting of such
important decisions, it will be forced to put the co-operation on
new principles.
