ZAGREB, Sep 8 (Hina) - Croatia is currently taking care of over
380,000 displaced persons and refugees. Twenty-two percent of them
is accommodated in refugee centers, and seventy-eight percent lives
with their relatives.
Head of the Office for Refugees and Displaced Persons,
Adalbert Rebic, informed today representatives of all Croatian and
foreign humanitarian agencies about a difficult situation regarding
the problem on displaced persons and refugees.
Croatia sets aside from the budget DEM 32 million per month
for refugees'accommodation, i.e. DEM 200 for each person, in the
time when an average Croatian salary amounts to DEM 400, stressed
Rebic.
Rebic asked humanitarian agencies to help, particularly in
delivering of food.
Not a single new refugee from Bosnia-Herzegovina can be
accepted in Croatia, and such a decision will be in force until
third countries provide more concrete assistance, said Rebic adding
that without the assistance, Croatia will be forced to close
refugee centers.
