OSIJEK, Aug 4 (Hina) - Croatian Interior Minister Ivan Jarnjak
visited today a checkpoint at Nemetin, U.N. Sector East, where he
held talks with representatives of the Association of Croatia's
Displaced Persons on a nationwide refugee blockade at UNPROFOR
checkpoints. Minister Jarnjak noted that the Croatian government,
and police in particular, would consistently carry out their
commitments concerning the control of the seven official crossings
into U.N. Protected Areas. He stressed that no additional
checkpoint would be opened without consent of the Association of
the Displaced Persons. According to Minister Jarnjak, both Croatian
policemen and UNPROFOR members are to receive the same instruction
about the control of vehicles which transport goods into Croatia's
occupied areas, so that possible incidents might be prevented
during control.
The UNPROFOR commander in Croatia, Jordanian General Ghazi
Tayib came to the checkpoint at Nemetin during today's meeting of
Minister Jarnjak and representatives of Croatia's refugees.
