SARAJEVO, Aug 2 (Hina) - Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic
forwarded a letter to the UN secreatary general and the Security
Council chairman on Tuesday urging them to take urgent measures in
order to prevent renewed Serb attacks on the Moslem enclave of
Gorazde in eastern Bosnia.
Izetbegovic said that the Bosnian Serbs continued to build up
troops and heavy weapons inside the 20 km weapons exclusion zone
surrounding Gorazde town. He added that the Serb forces were
bringing in heavy weapons from Foca, Visegrad, Rogatica and Pale.
The Bosnian president went on to say that on the night of July
30 a big column of Serb armoured vehicles arrived in the village of
Kopaci only 2 km from Gorazde. He said he was particularly
disturbed by the fact that twenty days ago UN peacekeepers had been
denied passage through the Serb-controlled part of the Gorazde
area.
