ZAGREB, July 7 (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign
Minister, Dr. Mate Granic, received today the Chief of the EU
Monitor Mission in the area of former Yugoslavia, Ambassador Paul
Joachim von Stuelpnagel, in an inaugural visit, stated Croatian
Foreign Ministry on Thursday.
At the meeting Minister Granic spoke about the unsatisfacory
situation in the occupied areas of Croatia and stressed the need to
solve simultaneously the problem of Croatia's occupied areas and
the crisis in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Minister Granic emphasized that Croatia was interested in a
peaceful solution to the question of its occupied areas and in this
sense it expected that the European Union (EU) and the United
Nations' General Assembly and Security Council, might play a more
active role. In this context he pointed out the importance of tasks
assumed by the Monitor Mission.
Speaking about the roles of EU and Monitor Mission Ambassador
von Stuelpnagel stressed the significance of the EU administration
of the city of Mostar.
Croatian Foreign Minister reiterated Croatia's strong support
to this project and expressed belief that the EU might carry out
its administration of Mostar without difficulty.
