GENEVA, July 5 (Hina) - Mostar is now officially under temporary
administration of the European Union (EU) in next two years. An
agreement on the EU administration of Mostar was signed on behalf
of EU by German, French and Greek foreign ministers, Klaus Kinkel,
Alain Juppe and Karolas Papuljas, on behalf of the Western European
Union by Dutch foreign minister Rolf Koojman, and by the President
of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian presidency, Alija Izetbegovic, and by
the President of the (Croat-Bosniac) Federation, Kresimir Zubak, in
Geneva on Tuesday evening.
The EU administrate, Hans Koschnik attended the ceremony of
the signing as well as the heads of eastern and western Mostar,
Safet Orucevic and Mijo Brajkovic respectively, who also signed the
document.
According to the agreement, the administrate Koschnik along
with fifteen-member council, five of whom are to be Croats, five
Bosniacs and another five members of other national origins (at
least three of them Serbs), will govern Mostar. Each of these five-
member national groups will have its one representative in the
Mostar leadership with Hans Koschnik.
The city is to be demilitarized completely, and only joint
police formations with proportionate number of national
representatives together with policemen from European countries
will be able to patrol the city.
