ZAGREB, July 5 (Hina) - Since the outbreak of war in the area of
former Yugoslavia the European Union (EU) has sent more than 700-
million-ECU aid to the crisis area, which is the highest percent of
humanitarian aid per capita in the world, Antonio de Menezes, the
head of the EU humanitarian aid agency's informational office, told
a press conference today in the Croatian capital of Croatia.
The Republic of Croatia has received 173-million-ECU since
the beginning of the war, and 60 million of this amount was
delivered in the last eight months. New relief aid will be soon
assigned to Croatia, according to Menezes.
He pointed out that the EU relief agency in Zagreb is
providing at the moment the largest part of food supplies for over
700,000 refugees, displaced persons and people dependent on welfare
in Croatia.
