CAIRO, June 1 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic,
heading a Croatian delegation as an observer at a ministerial
conference of non-aligned countries in the Egyptian capital of
Cairo, met Wednesday morning for talks with heads of delegations of
Germany, Slovakia and Romania, who are participating in the
conference as guests. Granic also met UN special envoy Vladimir
Petrovski.
The delegations of Croatia and Bosnia, participating as a
guest, proposed a joint draft text of the final document which is
expected to be adopted on Friday. The draft text was distributed to
representatives of Islamic and other countries which support a just
resolution of the crisis in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia.
Malta's Foreign Minister Guido de Marko told a press
conference today that Malta supported a dialogue between
Mediterranean countries in order to avoid any kind of conflict. He
described a decision not to invite Yugoslavia (Serbia and
Montenegro) to the conference as sensible.
The conference will continue work in groups to coordinate
views which would be presented in final documents.
Ibrahim Rugova, political leader of ethnic Albanians in the
southern Serbian province of Kosovo, sent a letter of non-alignment
movement member states, informing them of the difficult position of
Albanians in Kosovo and reiterating their demands for independence.
