SARAJEVO, May 8 (Hina) - UNPROFOR Head of Civil Affairs Sergio di
Mello visited Sarajevo on Sunday where he met with Bosnian
president Alija Izetbegovic. The talks focused on the situation in
Gorazde and Sarajevo.
Military sources in Sarajevo have already reported that
UNPROFOR has no control over 20 Serb cannons and mortars located
within the 20km zone around Sarajevo, so the meeting also discussed
that problem.
Di Mello informed Izetbegovic that UNMOs had already arrived
in the Brcko area and he explained to the Bosnian President a Serb
proposal on establishing a ceasefire in the area.
Izetbegovic accepted the preliminary proposal that could
prevent expected fighting in the Brcko area, about 200 km N. of
Sarajevo. He said that the final answer to that proposal would be
given in the next few days.
