CURKIN IN BELGRADE

ZAGREB, Apr 14 (Hina) - Vitalij Curkin, the special envoy of the Russian President, was received on Thursday by Serbia's President Slobodan Milosevic, broadcast the Belgrade radio today. According to the same radio, Curkin came in Belgrade from Pale (Bosnia-Herzegovina) where he had held talks on Wednesday with Bosnian Serbs' leader Radovan Karadzic. After his meeting with Milosevic the Russian special envoy said that they were continuing to discuss main problems in Bosnia. He added that the situation in Gorazde (eastern Bosnia-Herzegovina) was calm according to the latest reports he had got. Curkin also said "I have received assurances of Bosnian Serbs that they do not intend to continue the offensive providing that the other side will guarantee that they will not open fire." He reiterated that all talks had been concentrated on achieving a cessation of hostilities in Bosnia-Herzegovina and political solution to the crisis. Curkin could not inform of any results of his previous meetings since an intensive round of the talks was still underway. He added that there was hope that the latest talks would give some results. Asked what he could expect from his meetings in Belgrade Curkin answered that "I have brought some proposals, but the others need some time to make their mind on them. Last night I had a meeting with President Milosevic, and he has already given some answers. I am expecting another meeting with him for several hours." Asked to say something more about those proposals Curkin answered that he "cannot describe them in detail" but they considered a cessation of hostilities in B-H and normalization of relations. 141823 MET apr 94
